Art Sparks Adventures in Buninyong

In March, Art Sparkers headed out to Merle Hathaway’s beautiful converted brewery for an event themed around curiosity and intrigue, key ideas in the making of art and makers meeting and engaging with one another.

6.30- 7.30: have a drink, chat, and explore the Weave Length live art installations (see back for map)
7.30- 8.00: eat BBQ
8.00- 8.30: BAA welcome and spoken word from David Farnsworth and Karl Schenk
8.30- 9.00: Singers of the Black Book perform
9- 9.30: Tea, coffee, dessert and enjoy visual art displays
9.45: Historic Trail Ramble

FEATURE ARTISTS
Rosalind Lawson has taught and exhibited extensively in Ballarat, Melbourne and around the world. Her first professional show was in Ireland in 1979 and her most recent was ‘Eddy and Flow’ at Ballarat’s Backspace Gallery with Lynden Nicholls. Her work is displayed tonight inside the Brewery.
Singers of the Black Book are unique and experienced performers of a capella early music.
David Farnsworth is a thespian, poet, teacher, bushwalker, marathon runner (in the past) and compulsive traveller. His writing has been published in various journals and anthologies including Overland, Poetry Australia, & The Newcastle Poetry Prize Anthology, and is featured in the latest Ballarat regional branch of the Fellowship of Australian Writers, “Gleam of Gold 4”.
Karl Schenk is a musician, writer and recording engineer. He works with both analogue and digital equipment to synthesize and record original compositions. His work tonight is an example of authentic art, purposely created for this event and involving contributions from other BAA members.
Stephanie Patterson is a Buninyong based photographer whose screen based presentation “The Private and Secret Gardens of the Buninyong District’ is on display tonight inside the Brewery.
Weave Length artists Abbie Matthew and Amy Tsilemanis deal in cross-artform creations and collaborations with a particular interest in site-related exploration. Recent works include 407 Finch St (2010) and Ballarat Railway Theatrical Audio Tours (2011/12).
