ArtSig02 Wrap Up

  • by

Let me just explain this image by Erin McCuskey, and no its not a typo:

captains of pedadodgy

While its not as obvious as we would have liked (2 min setup and a few wines put paid to that!). Here is what we were aiming for: http://awesomenator.com/around-the-world/superpower-yielding-japanese-high-school-girls/

Maybe next time…

We has a fabulous ArtSig02 at Main Bar yesterday, those who came were treated to some witty repartee, tall tales and true along with a few recurring issues of ‘what is an emerging artist?’, ‘what happens in Wagga?’ and ‘will Malcolm need to wear a uniform?’

These events are casual sessions with some fabulous guests (Bronwyn Blaiklock and Malcolm Sanders) and an interviewer (Erin McCuskey). Here are the questions that were given answers that you missed out on if you weren’t there.

Questions for Bronwyn (Artistic Director of Pure Poetry Project):

On the pronunciation of Blaiklock? (We’ll give you this answer is the interests of multiculturalism)… Blake – Lock

Are you a poet who plays the piano or a pianist with a passion for words? Or are you the ‘hybrid artist’ as mentioned online?

Many may not know your academic background, we found an essay on ‘Piano Pedagogy’ Please explain. (here is where Bronwyn mentions her preferred word to use ‘pedadodgy’).

You refer to yourself as an ’emerging poet’, when are you getting out?

Why is community engagement important to you?

The first incarnation of Pure Poetry was now ten years ago, what form did the first one take and why did you do it? (Wagga forms part of the answer, but only part).

This years event was fabulous, what motivated you to do it, and why did you need to look to funding sources to put it on? (Pure Poetry).

Questions for Malcolm (New Creative Arts Facilitator with Regional Arts Victoria):

A Geelong lad with a clear love of the absurd, you had an interesting welcome to Ratville, tell us about that. (you can read about it here).

It’s important to have opinions. What is your opinion of the new mayor (the Geelong one)?

Your previous position was with Courthouse Arts. What did you learn about yourself while there?

How do we motivate artists from this region to apply for funding?

What is on offer at RAV, and what specific support can you give artists?

So thanks for coming out ratvillians, we also hope that you will support our sponsors of this event Yum Studio and Main Bar by liking their facey pages and talking about how fabulous they are…
