Janette, Viki, and Alison at Pumpkin and Sparrow Gallery with the work of Niki Lakerink

Ballarat Arts Alive put on a fabulous moving feast for Art Sparks yesterday, bringing this 3rd series to a close. Punters met at the Post Office Gallery and viewed the NAIDOC exhibition Our Country Our Culture Our Community before getting on the bus and exploring four other local galleries, complete with food, wine, and comedy. Fun!

Kiri Smart, event organiser extraordinaire

The diversity of Ballarat artists was on show from Paul Blizzard’s mini sculptures in his show Stretching at Fairbanks Gallery to Niki Lakerink’s eco-art show Eclectische Verzameling across an amazing array of media at Pumpkin and Sparrow, to an awesome skateboard deck group show Skate or Die at Wolveschildren Art Space, and winding up with the intricate images of Edgar van Der Gronden and touching portraits of Diokno Pasilan, plus beautiful music performance with Something in Common  at Backspace Gallery.

Great work Kiri Smart and the BAA crew for organising such a great event, and thanks to all the galleries and artists for being involved. Thanks again to the City of Ballarat Arts & Culture Unit for their support of Art Sparks over its three unique series.

Look out for more in the future!
