BAA’s first succesful auspicing project
by Bronwyn Blaiklock
BAA Inc’s aim to support diverse arts practice in the community is hitting its target, if the 2013 Pure Poetry project was anything to go by. A vehicle to foster creative exchange in the local arts community, the project gives artists the opportunity to collaborate with others working in a different art-form, and celebrates their cross-discipline creations in a public recital.
The original poetry and composition that featured in the Pure Poetry Recital held the attention of a capacity audience in the Art Gallery of Ballarat last November, and the event would not have been quite the success it was without BAA’s help. Acting as auspice for member and project organiser, Bronwyn Blaiklock, BAA provided access to organisational funding from the City of Ballarat to support the cost of presenting the new works. Not only could professional musicians present the works superbly in their premiere performance, but the profile of numerous poets and composers was enhanced and broadened by the collaboration.
Bronwyn said, “BAA is broadening the possibilities for local artists by offering to be an auspice organisation. It is hard work to create new art as an independent artist, so having access to an organisation’s network and collective wisdom is invaluable.”
