We are beginning to plan a few interactive/social events now, for later in 2025 as well as the AGM and also, the first half of 2026…
In 2026:
BALLARAT BAA MEMBER’S & CASTLEMAINE ARTIST’S GROUP SHOW
This may be a good motivator to renew your membership or join BAA Inc’ for the first time. It’s through membership subscriptions and Auspicing grants for our members, that keeps BAA financial. Then we can put that money back into the arts community though donations, awards, workshops and mentoring and provide some benefits to our paid up members, like the exciting new project below! Click HERE to pay your membership and thank you if ya did!.
The foundations of this project have been established and the Gallery Space is booked at Kank Wolverang Records, 30 Main Road, Ballaarat, for a ‘Cross-Cultural/Inter-Urban’ 2D / 3D Vis Artist Group show consisting of:
- Current Financial BAA Members of this 2025/26 financial year
- Creatives who exhibit & practice at ‘Lot 19’ Artist Village & it’s Gallery, in Castlemaine.
*The BAA Committee of Management are paying for the hire of the space for a month, meaning:
- No Entry Fee for either our BAA members or our Castlemaine guests exhibiting in the show
- No commission on sales. Sales procedure to be established closer to the date
Dates are still to be locked in, but we are currently slotted in from the week after Easter for one month.
Below are the current tentative key dates & times:
- Opening & closing dates for entries are yet to be established
- Exhibition install: Thursday & Friday April 9 & 10
- Exhibition Opening: Saturday April 11 – 2pm – 5pm
- Exhibition closes Sunday May 3rd – with work sold or unsold collected by 5pm closing time that day.
*Kank Wolverang Records‘ opens Thursday – Sunday, 10:30am – 5pm, each day.
Last year I (Sparkie) broadcast an EOI asking how many BAA members who would like to take part in this inter-urban group show, with approximately 30 or so people responding, indicating both interest and enthusiasm about the concept – Soon, I will send out a more formal EOI register, including a plan of the gallery space. This will require some more detailed information from you in regards to what you might exhibit, i.e: medium(s), floor or wall space required, or suspension from the rafters, power, if you can BYO plinth, etc. So we can plan ahead for what we need to provide and the placement of some works.. It could end up being a salon hang style exhibit.
It’s early days yet, but if Castlemaine also gather 30 at Eliza-Jane’s end, that’s a lot of artists to accommodate, so the current thinking is one work per person up to a size as yet undefined. 3D works are encouraged as there is plenty of floor space available – possibly a size limitation on them & BYO custom plinth?
Once more details are sorted, the Group Show will hopefully be co-ordinated on the Castlemaine end by Lot 19 Gallery Curator: Eliza-Jane Gilchrist with Ballarat Arts Alive’s Communications Officer, Peter Sparkman on the Ballarat end.
*The reciprocal show at the Lot 19 Gallery is yet to be organised, it’s probably too late to book in for later this year now, (as I think Eliza organises 6 months of exhibitions at a time), so sometime in 2026 is most likely for the group show there as well.
